Great trail a must do . FYI bridge #1,2,3,4 were under construction but are now complete and the trail is open complete . When in Monroe just before overpass there is a good burger and place called Wayback burger . You have to pedal through a gas station lot but it’s next door .
We recently did a loop ride, crossing the George Washington Bridge and Mario Cuomo Bridges. This trail was a seamless connector from Rt. 9 and the town of Sparkill to the MCB. It's fairly narrow with occasional views across the Hudson River and the bridge. The condition was pretty good, gravel/dirt.
Trail is all gravel so be careful ! It starts in the center of town in New Paltz goes into a field of green & a view of a mountain it’s ok but I would not do again .
We love the view across the entire trail ;however, it was so bumpy with many parts of the asphalt missing or pushed up from weeds, it took away from the ride.
Started in Simpson and headed north. The first 12 miles is very nice, except for the occasional noise from the ATV trail nearby. The next eight miles is a little rough, but not too bad. Then a mile of the trail was very soft, like they were working on the trail. After that, it becomes VERY rough - riding on balast. Some very nice scenery; has the potential to be a great trail - if they ever finish cindering the full length of the trail.
We had a beautiful day riding this trail! There were a lot of people, however, that's to be expected on a wonderful Sunday afternoon. The only downside was that we were stopped and given a warning, with my name taken and entered into the officers computer, by a County Sherif officer that e-bikes are prohibited in all Bergen County parks. Unfortunately we won't be back to this trail again.
Truly loved this trail we went on a Sunday September, we had our electric bikes it was so much fun. Coming back for sure!
Really poor signage and trail markings
Went from the Thuway area in Poughkeepsie over the walkway and ride to Hopewell junction .Nice trail well groomed , paved not much to look at but very cool what the volunteers did to the RR depot , signal house and pavilion, the depot museum was great . Went to Daddy O’s restaurant on the trail , good food . The NY empire trail continues along live tracks goes I believe quite far .
Super calm, people are kind, and a great way to relax!!
Nice trail a must do . From Kingston it’s paved at least 5 -6 miles the rest is easy ride great scenery !
